So, last week started out pretty bland, and unproductive, but by Thursday I was determined to get my act together and do better. My determination and, let me be honest here, anger at myself for being such a lame in the gym made sure that both Thursday and Friday turned out far better than the first three days of the week.
Well, now I have a new “dilemma”, if you will: my Inov-8’s are bound for the trash heap after sustaining a tear. I noticed it, following Friday’s workout, as I was removing them from my feet. I was kinda ticked about it, but I was already fully aware that I was on my way to a new pair of trainers long before I ever noticed the damage was done—my feet were starting to feel a bit too much pain the morning after and I knew it was because it was time for a new pair of shoes.
My plan was to buy new insoles until I could get the kids re-settled into their back-to-school, back to dance, and back to soccer routines, but the tear meant insoles weren’t going to cut it; I needed a new pair of shoes and I needed them pronto! Problem is, I am so OCD about the process of buying anything—I need reviews, testimonials, pricing, professional opinions, etc.—that dealing with this fiaco now is nothing short of a pain in the ass.
That said, my hunt for a new pair of shoes started Friday night and will continue until I have settled on something that will suit my needs for the next 4-6 months. FYI: The Inov-8’s were fabulous, but with all the jumping and high impact stuff I do, I really need a shoe that will do a better job of absorbing impact without being overly bulky.
In the meantime, I will be dragging out an old pair of Nike Frees for a couple of days—yes, I know I should abandon my workouts altogether, but I’ve vowed to go easy until I get my new kicks—as I simply can’t see myself skipping a workout when I’m finally getting my groove back.
Anywho…Happy Monday and wish me luck on my shoe hunt!
