Pink is back in the news again… for all the wrong reasons.
When most people think of Pink—the fairly well-known pop singer—an image of a woman with spiked hair, a fab body, and an “IDGAF” attitude comes immediately to mind. I immediately think of her looking something like this:
She looks great, right? Okay, well, here’s the problem with that shot…she has looked like that for, basically, her entire career. Google “Pink” and there are literally pages of her looking stunningly fit and ridiculously well put together. Buuuuuttttttt, when your image is synonymous with such things, ass hats, haters, idiots, etc., are ready to pounce the moment you no longer look that way. See recent photo below:
That photo was taken at a recent event Pink attended with her fella. To me, she still looks amazing, but for those who regard her only as a celeb worthy of being on the cover of “Shape” magazine, she looked a bit too, well, shapely—for lack of a better word—so they went in on her body, in the comment section (in true cowardly form) where the photo first appeared; and, true to Pink’s nature, she gave them a nice little “FU” in response.
“I can see that some of you are concerned about me from your comments about my weight. You’re referring to the pictures of me from last night’s cancer benefit that I attended to support my [dear] friend Dr. Maggie DiNome. She was given the Duke Award for her tireless efforts and stellar contributions to the eradication of cancer. But unfortunately, my weight seems much more important to some of you. While I admit that the dress didn’t photograph as well as it did in my kitchen, I will also admit that I felt very pretty. In fact, I feel beautiful. So, my good and concerned peoples, please don’t worry about [me]. I’m not worried about me. And I’m not worried about you either 🙂 … I am perfectly fine, perfectly happy, and my healthy, voluptuous and crazy strong body is having some much deserved time off. Thanks for your concern. Love, cheesecake.”
Good for her!
My point in writing this little post, though, is not to stick up for Pink—clearly, she can do that all by her damn self—but rather to bring attention, yet again, to the ignorance of those who will criticize you no matter what you do. A “hater” is always looking for a way to bring you down because they know they will never get up to your level.
It is what it is.
Fitness is about focusing on your own, personal, health. You cannot focus on an image alone because the image can change. So, the best thing to do is to constantly keep your eye towards improvement and don’t listen to anyone who might have an ulterior motive—those people may actually be sabotaging you—because not everyone will applaud you once you achieve success.
It’s always about you. Remember that.
